KBKA are organising the Bees and Honey Show, as part of the County Show on 15-17 July, at the Showground in Detling (near Maidstone). This is a major part of the Kentish beekeeping calendar, so why not go along and support it?
Follow this link for more details.
A few members of CBKA will be attending the Brogdale Cherry Festival this weekend 9-10 July, selling locally produced honey. Please come and support us! The festival is on 10am-5pm. Follow this link for more details.
The bee inspectorate and many beekeepers are reporting the presence of large numbers of worker wasps in apiaries and around bee hives. It is likely that wasp populations will peak earlier and for a longer period this year. Click on this link to read more from FERA.
Are your bees starving? Read FERA’s advice published on 2nd June about the dry weather and its effect on nectar flows, the June gap etc.
A quick reminder that the June meeting is at Vincent’s apiary in Ash on Saturday 4th June. Please let us know if you are coming (particularly if you need protective equipment). The best way is to phone Julian on 0776 183 9119
