The Dover Honey Show is at Alkham Village Hall on Saturday 22nd October. In recent years, CBKA have been strong supporters of the show, both as competition entrants, and even winners. We have provided the winners of the Novice honey category in both 2009 and 2010, and therefore have a reputation to preserve.
Please support this local event, either with attendance, or better, entering your honey, wax, cakes etc. If you need some advice about showing honey, just ask one of the CBKA committee. The following link gives more information: Dover_Honey_Show
As recently announced by Julian, the Whitefriars roof is now home to CBKA beehives. Read about it in “Kent on Sunday”, in KMextra or at their website.
Well-known beekeeper Bill Turnbull is giving a talk during the Canterbury Festival, in Canterbury Cathedral Lodge on Thursday 20 October 2011 at 5:30 PM.
BBC Breakfast presenter and contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, Bill is also the UK’s “leading ambassador” for bees, according to the blurb. I thought that was Martha Kearney, but no matter. See the festival website for more details. If there’s enough interest perhaps we could do a block booking?
KBKA are organising the Bees and Honey Show, as part of the County Show on 15-17 July, at the Showground in Detling (near Maidstone). This is a major part of the Kentish beekeeping calendar, so why not go along and support it?
